Green Corridor Closing Workshop |

The final review and evaluation workshop for the Green Corridor project was held on the 16th December 2008, after four and a half years work from local stakeholders and WWF staff. The project was regarded as highly successful by Thua Thien Hue PPC and other stakeholders who attended the meeting. Major outcomes were the implementation of biodiversity surveys to establish high conservation priority areas which was used in provincial demarcation of three forest types;
establishment of new protected eras and an extension to Bach Ma National Park; Provincial Action Plans for Forest Fire, Wildlife Trade and Biodiversity; working with Govt 661 pro gramme to pilot Restoration schemes; conducting over 70 training courses for communities and government ranging from enforcement to nursery techniques, and conducting awareness events at school, provincial and national level.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Chairman of Thua Thien Hue PPC, said that the project had made significant achievements to strengthening management of the Green Corridor area. A DVD has been made which includes over 60 project reports, powerpoints, training materials and photographs and can be obtained from WWF or through downloading on this website.
